A Summer Solstice Practice Kit ☀️
A Ceremony of Breath, Reflection, and Savoring
The solstice marks the height of the sun’s power—a time of expansion, illumination, and life in full bloom. But it doesn’t have to be grand or ceremonial in any performative way.
Sometimes, just a moment of attention—of breath, of warmth, of sweetness—is enough.
This simple personal practice is here to help you pause, reflect, and reconnect with your own rhythm as the season turns. No pressure. Just a gentle invitation to savor what this season holds for you.
🌞 Summer Sun Breath Practice
Find a space where you can feel the sunlight—maybe near a window or outside.
Soften your gaze.
Inhale: Imagine drawing in the sunlight around you—its warmth and radiance.
Exhale: Let go of what’s no longer needed. Imagine it being composted by the Earth.
Optional:
Add soft movement in a seated or standing cat/cow pattern.
Place your bare feet on the earth, grass, or wooden floor as you breathe.
Let the rhythm of breath and light guide you inward.
🪷 Reflect: What’s Emerging?
Settle into stillness or journaling space, and explore these gentle questions. No pressure to find the “right” answer. Just let something true arise.
What inner shift has been quietly preparing me for what’s next?
What beginning is asking for my attention?
What do I want to nurture in this season of light?
🍓 The Practice of Savoring
Summer offers so many quiet sweetnesses—if we make space to notice them. As part of your solstice reflection, consider:
What are the small joys of summer I don’t want to miss?
What sensory delights do I want to lean into this season?
What helps me remember that joy is a form of wisdom too?
Some ideas to spark your own:
The smell of the sea, the garden, or freshly cut grass
Fresh herbs and juicy fruit
Evening walks with long shadows
Cricket sounds and open windows
Watching fireflies
The first sip of something iced
Reading a book just for fun
Sitting on the porch doing absolutely nothing
Farmer’s markets, sun-dappled everything, moving to music, water on skin, deep laughter...
Let your reflections be a kind of gratitude—an honoring of life’s small, sacred pleasures.
