Unhooked: The Kleshas — Ancient Yoga Wisdom + Modern Brain Science for Real Life

We’re living in an era designed to keep us hooked — to keep us clicking, consuming, reacting. So when we find ourselves stuck in loops — overthinking, overdoing, scrolling, snapping, numbing, striving — it isn’t a personal failure. In this series, we’ll explore how ancient yogic philosophy offers a clear, compassionate framework for understanding these “hooks” — and how we might begin to unhook in everyday life.

This series is offered as a philosophy-and-practice course, not a clinical group or therapeutic space. Alongside yogic reflection, we’ll incorporate modern brain science — including ideas from Dopamine Nation and Rick Hanson’s Neurodharma — to illuminate how craving, threat response, and habit loops work in the brain. There is no required reading; key insights will be woven into each week’s presentation in an accessible way.

Pratibhā: The Light That Leads You Onward | 4 Week Online Series

There is a kind of knowledge that doesn’t come from thinking harder.

In yoga philosophy, pratibhā names an inner knowing — a flash of insight that often arrives when we stop pushing for answers, listen more deeply, and open to the possibilities life is offering us.

In the Tantric view, pratibhā is like a light that leads you onward. Sometimes that movement is felt as sensation or imagery. Sometimes it arrives as intuition or inner intelligence. Sometimes it feels like it comes from a mysterious beyond.

This concept is highly personal, so we'll take some time to explore it in ways that you can customize to your experience and worldview.

A Long Winter's Nap | Yoga Nidrā Mini-Retreat

As the days grow shorter and the pace of the world quickens, this mini-retreat invites you to move differently — to soften, slow, and turn inward. Through gentle, meditative movement and a long, guided Yoga Nidrā session, you’ll enter the soft rhythm of hibernation: a time for rest, reflection, and renewal before the bustle of the holidays.

Together, we’ll explore the yogic principle of pratyāhāra, often translated as “the drawing inward of the senses.” This practice invites a retreat into your own inner sanctuary — the cave of the heart, described by the yogis, where a steady flame of awareness continues to glow even in the darkest season.
