Breath-Led Somatics for Neck and Shoulders
With Renee Zambo | 60 minutes
This class is for the tension that settles into the neck, shoulders, and upper back and tends to stay there. Renee guides you through slow, breath-led movement, almost entirely on the floor, so you can notice sensation and let your body find more ease at its own pace. We begin in a supported chest opener over a rolled blanket, then move through gentle arm circles with head turns, easy reclined twists, and side-lying sequences for the hips and shoulders, each one done slowly enough to feel the small changes from one repetition to the next. Options are offered all along the way, so you can stay with whatever feels right.
Later we come up to sit for ear-to-shoulder movements, shoulder rolls, and a soft seated twist, then settle with legs up the wall or resting on the couch, a figure 4 stretch for the hips, and a long shavasana (resting pose) to let the whole body even out. Gather a blanket, a pillow or two, and a clear spot near a wall or couch, and let the floor hold you. We close with anjali mudra, the gesture of reverence and gratitude, carrying the benefits of practice into the rest of your day.
